As time was winding down in the first half Zandbergen connected with de Bruijne giving the Monarchs a four goal advantage. 11 minutes later senior and team captain Nicole Fredricks took a feed from Marlon de Bruijne on a penalty quarter and slotted it past the keeper giving ODU a 3-0 lead. Two minutes in de Gier scored her second goal after Zandbergen sent a ball into Danielle Husar that set up the goal. The second quarter is where the Monarchs (10-5, 5-1) would heat up and never look back. ODU took 13 minutes but found the first goal when Frederique Zandbergen fed a pass to de Gier giving Old Dominion a 1-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Sacha de Gier led the way for the Monarchs scoring three goals. With the win the Monarchs have clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament at Temple University set for Nov. – The Old Dominion Field Hockey team cruised to its eighth-straight win on Friday when they defeated Quinnipiac, 8-0 on Senior Day at the L.R.
